The Anchorage is a traditional stone built 18th Century alum miner’s cottage and was fully refurbished in early 2015. It is situated in The Valley in Sandsend, with delightful sea views and is just a short walk to both the beach and the village amenities.
Accommodation:
On the ground floor, there is a separate lounge and kitchen.
The lounge comprises a window seat with outstanding views across The Valley. A comfortable retro styled sofa, armchair and a dining table and chairs to sit four. There is a log burning stove and an electric heater. For entertainment there is a TV with all the free to air channels as well as the usual catch up services. WiFi is available throughout the cottage.
The modern styled kitchen is very well equipped with a Bosch Quantum Speed combined oven and microwave, electric hob, fridge with freezer compartment, crockery, glassware and a full range of cookware and utensils.
A staircase leads from the lounge to the first floor.
Upstairs, there are two bedrooms, with bedroom one having a fabulous view of The Valley and the sea beyond. Bedroom one has a double bed and bedroom two has children’s bunk beds with a view of the cottage’s private garden. Each has a chest of drawers, an electric heater and there is a fitted wardrobe in bedroom one.
The shower room comprises a washbasin, electric shower and toilet.
Outside:
The Anchorage has it’s own private garden, accessed from the lounge. The pebbled and lawned terraces provide ample space for the garden table, chairs and BBQ.
There is a garden shed with mains electricity and water, which houses a washing machine and an outside tap. It is also a useful area for storing wellies, buckets and spades, etc.
Parking:
Whilst there is no designated parking for the cottage, residents only parking is available free of charge in The Valley (what3words: ///pheasants.still.galloping). It is also possible whilst loading and unloading, to park outside of the cottage on Low Row. Further parking is available in the public car park over the road.
Services:
Guests are asked to bring their own towels. Non-smokers only. One small, well behaved dog is welcome by prior arrangement.
