The Anchorage is a traditional stone built 18th Century alum miner’s cottage and was fully refurbished in early 2015. It is situated in The Valley in Sandsend, with delightful sea views and is just a short walk to both the beach and the village amenities.
On the ground floor, there is a separate lounge and kitchen.
The lounge comprises a window seat with outstanding views across The Valley. A comfortable retro styled sofa, armchair and a dining table and chairs to sit four. There is a log burning stove and an electric heater. For entertainment there is a TV with DVD player and a selection of DVD’s. A PlayStaion 2 is also available with a selection of games and a more traditional offering of board games and books. WiFi is available throughout the cottage.
The modern styled kitchen is very well equipped with a Bosch Quantum Speed combined oven and microwave, electric hob, fridge with freezer compartment, crockery, glassware and a full range of cookware and utensils.
A staircase leads from the lounge to the first floor.
Upstairs, there are two bedrooms, with bedroom one having a fabulous view of The Valley and the sea beyond. Bedroom one has a double bed and bedroom two has children’s bunk beds with a view of the cottage’s private garden. Each has a chest of drawers, an electric heater and there is a fitted wardrobe in bedroom one.
The shower room comprises a washbasin, electric shower and toilet.
The Anchorage has it’s own private garden, accessed from the lounge. The pebbled and lawned terraces provide ample space for the garden table, chairs and BBQ.
There is a garden shed with mains electricity and water, which houses a washing machine and an outside tap. It is also a useful area for storing wellies, buckets and spades, etc.
Whilst there is no designated parking for the cottage, residents only parking is available free of charge in The Valley. It is also possible whilst loading and unloading, to park outside of the cottage on Low Row.
Guests are asked to bring their own towels and tea towels. Non-smokers only. One small, well behaved dog is welcome by prior arrangement.
